
Sun tanning is the process whereby skin color is darkened or tanned. Skin is tanned either intentionally or it gets tanned by frequent exposure to the sun. People needs a deliberate tan because it adds a warm glow to the skin, masks blemishes, and helps make colorful clothes stand out. Tanning is very common in western countries where people tend to have extreme fair or pale skin, they consider a brownish, glowed skin as a mark of beauty and sex-appeal. Though there are contradictions on benefits and health hazards on getting tanned, truth is that mastering the art of getting right tan is essential because right amount of tan helps in producing vitamin D which is good for health but continuous exposure to sun or UV rays can increase the risk of skin cancer and other problems.
To get a deliberate tan, there are primarily 4 ways and we will discuss each one of them and once we learn how to get tan we will also see how to remove unwanted tan from your skin.
1. Sunbath
These kind of tan is most common form of tan and is obtained by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight. The tanning process is triggered by sunlight exposure and it causes increased generation of melanin and rapid darkening of melanin. Use an outdoor tanning lotion or sunscreen with low SPF because high SPF can prevents tanning of your skin so ideally SPF is around 4-15. You can also use dedicated sun tanning lotions which are specifically made for tanning in the sun. Also do not forget to use a lipbalm with SPF 15. If tanning lotions are not your type, you can also use following oils which naturally acts as a tan enhancer.
